Dream Universe

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

Dream Universe is a private dream recording and visualization app. This policy explains what information is handled when you use the app and how it is used.

Dreams and your device

Your dream memories, collections, and optional About Me visual-reference choices are primarily stored locally on your device. You can record a dream by typing or using voice input. You can delete locally stored dreams from Dream Book; deleting a dream also removes its associated locally stored visualization and collection memberships.

AI visualizations

When you explicitly request an AI visualization, an internet connection is required. The information needed to create the requested image is securely transmitted to the Dream Universe backend and an AI service provider. This can include your dream description and, when relevant to depicting you in the dream, the optional About Me characteristics you chose to provide. The AI processing is used to provide the visualization you requested.

The Dream Universe backend processes the request to obtain the generated image. The app saves a visualization locally when you choose to save it. The AI service provider processes submitted information under its own applicable terms and privacy practices.

Apple identity, subscriptions, and image allowances

Text dream recording and Dream Book remain available without signing in or subscribing. AI Dream Visualization requires Sign in with Apple and an active Standard or Premium subscription. Free users have no AI image allowance. Standard allows up to 10 successful images per day and Premium allows up to 30; daily allowances reset at 00:00 UTC.

Our backend verifies Apple identity tokens and App Store subscription transactions. It stores the verified Apple account identifier, an opaque account identifier, encrypted Apple authorization credentials used to validate or revoke access, hashed session credentials, subscription ownership and expiration metadata, daily successful-image counts, and temporary request reservations. This prevents unauthorized access and concurrent requests from exceeding the allowance. These records are stored in our PostgreSQL database hosted on Render in Frankfurt, Germany.

Dream text and generated image bytes are processed to fulfill an image request but are not stored in this quota database. OpenAI receives the dream text and relevant optional appearance details when you choose visualization; its processing and retention practices are described in OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. We do not intentionally log dream text, image bytes, authorization tokens, or database credentials.

Retention and account deletion

Account and subscription ownership records are retained while the account exists. Server sessions expire after 30 days, sign-in challenges expire after five minutes, and image request reservations expire after five minutes if not completed. Daily usage and request history older than 35 days are cleaned up as users sign in or request images, and account-linked records are removed during account deletion. To prevent account deletion and recreation from bypassing paid daily limits, an opaque daily usage guard containing only a hashed quota key, date, and count may remain until the UTC day ends; expired guards are cleaned up on subsequent sign-ins. It contains no Apple identifier, session credential, dream text, image, or subscription receipt.

In Account / Settings, Delete Account removes your server account, subscription ownership records, sessions, usage records, and locally stored dreams, images, collections, drafts, and About Me profile. We revoke the Apple authorization held by our backend before completing deletion. If this cannot be completed, deletion displays an error and can be retried. Deleted records may remain in restricted database backups until those backups expire under the hosting provider’s retention schedule. Information already processed by OpenAI remains subject to its applicable retention practices.

Deleting your Dream Universe account does not cancel an Apple subscription or stop Apple billing. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Signing out preserves your locally stored dreams.

Information use and sharing

Dream Universe does not sell personal data. We do not use personal data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Information is shared with the AI service provider only as needed to provide an AI visualization you request, and with Apple for services you choose to use, such as sign-in and App Store purchases.

Sign in with Apple may be used to authenticate your account. Apple handles App Store purchases and subscription billing; Dream Universe does not receive your full payment card details.

Data security

Dream Universe uses HTTPS for online communication with its backend. Apple authorization credentials are encrypted at rest by our backend, and server session credentials are stored as hashes. The app stores its session in the device Keychain. Locally stored information is subject to the security of your device and its settings. Information sent for AI processing is also handled by the AI service provider. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children’s privacy

Dream Universe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, please contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app or its practices change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
